With over 25 years of combined experience in long term care the administrative team at Ivy Woods Manor is highly qualified to over see your loved ones’ care. With close attention to detail, and up to date knowledge of state and federal regulations our administrative team is committed to excellence. Our licensed nursing home administrator has over 15 years experience in long term care and is also a certified therapeutic recreation specialist and an activity consultant certified.

Nursing Department
Ivy Woods Manor’s nursing staff strives to enhance the resident’s mental, social and physical well being, directed by Stephanie Weingart RN who has over 10 years experience in long term care. Our nurses and nursing staff get to know each resident and their families and work together with all other disciplines to offer the best care for all residents. Each nurse at Ivy Woods Manor is knowledgeable of the clinical complexities faced in long term care. Our nursing staff strives to develop meaningful relationships while touching lives and making a difference in each of our residents’ lives.

Restorative Nursing
Ivy Woods Manor offers an extensive restorative program directed by a registered nurse that is used to increase the functional level in performance of activities of daily living, prevent complications associated with inactivity, and improve dignity and quality of life for our residents. Here at Ivy Woods Manor we provide an atmosphere where our residents can live a meaningful life with self-esteem and function as independently as possible.

Social Services
The Social Services Department at Ivy Woods Manor includes 2 full-time licensed social workers with a combined 15 years experience in long term care. At admission we conduct a comprehensive social history to meet our residents’ needs. We work together with our residents’, their families, and community resources to provide and maintain the best quality of care and quality of life. Our Social Services Department provides emotional and supportive counseling to residents and their loved ones, as well as addressing any questions, concerns, or requests. Our door is always open to residents and families, helping to provide a relaxed transition, monitoring the well being of our residents, and continuing to pursue an environment as close to home as possible. Behavior Management
A Masters prepared Behavior Management Specialist directs the behavior management programming at Ivy Woods Manor. The purpose of the Behavior Management Program is to ensure that all employees are educated and trained on implementing therapeutic proactive and intervention behavioral strategies. These strategies are intended to deal with psychiatric disorders as well as cognitive and behavioral issues associated with various types of dementia and Alzheimer’s disease. Ongoing assessment and employee training prepares our staff to break down the barriers of communication, which often leave residents feeling misunderstood, therefore improving our residents psychosocial well being.

Plan Of Care Team
Our interdisciplinary team consists a professional staff dedicated to meeting the needs, and maintaining the highest level of function for our residents’. The team is made up of Nursing, Rehab, Activities, Nutritional Services, Social Services, and a Behavioral Specialist. Our experienced staff has worked together for a number of years, and our focus is on quality of care and quality of life. Nutrition Services
The Nutrition Services Department at Ivy Woods Manor provides optimal nutritional care for each individual resident. The Nutrition Department is staffed with a registered dietetic technician and registered dietician, who individualize each resident’s nutritional needs and preferences. We assure that our residents receive a variety and good quality foods daily. Unique to our facility, our residents assist in developing our menus to their food preferences that continue to meet and exceed the standard regulations.

Activity Department

The Activity Department at Ivy Woods Manor is made up of one full time director and three full time assistants. The director of the department is a Recreation Therapist who is certified under the National Council of Therapeutic Recreation Certification. Recreation Therapy services are utilized to promote the physical, cognitive, emotional and social well being of our residents. A plan of care is developed for each resident at our facility to help promote overall activity participation.

Our activity programming is developed by our CTRS (Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist) and carried out by our full time staff of Activity Assistants. Our Activity Department helps enhance current skills while assisting residents in developing new skills upon their leisure interests. Many of our activities include community outings, kitchen classes, birthday parties and craft activities. Ivy Woods Manor also provides a pet therapy program in which Barney and Storm would love to spend the afternoon with you playing ball or letting you pet them while keeping you company.

Medical Records
The Medical Records Department of Ivy Woods Manor is directed by a Medical Records Director who has an Associate’s Degree in Applied Science with a concentration in Medical Records Technology from Youngstown State University.
The Medical Records Department provides support to the Interdisciplinary Team as well as the Nursing Department by organization, reviewing, analyzing and maintenance of protected health information while overseeing legal, medical, and financial regulations and ensuring compliance and confidentiality.

Therapy
Ivy Woods Manor’s Therapy Department provides the following skilled services: Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, and Speech and Swallowing Therapy. The Therapy staff at Ivy Woods Manor are employed by Guardian Rehab Services, Inc. which is dedicated to personal and professional excellence. Our goal is to provide our residents with the highest level of care and assist them in maintaining their highest level of functional independence.

Physical Therapy
Physical Therapy at Ivy Woods Manor is provided by a full-time licensed physical therapy assistant (PTA) in conjunction with a licensed physical therapist. Physical Therapy services include the evaluation and treatment of gait dysfunctions, balance deficits, pain management, strengthening, range of motion deficits, and custom wheel chair seating along with family and caregiver education.

Occupational Therapy
A full-time certified occupational therapy assistant (COTA/L) licensed by the state of Ohio and nationally certified through NBCOT (National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy, Inc.) provides Occupation Therapy services at Ivy Woods Manor in conjunction with an occupational therapist ( OTR/L). Occupational Therapy services include the evaluation and treatment of residents who have difficulty with ADL’s (activities of daily living) which includes dressing, bathing and grooming/hygiene. OT addresses the strength, range of motion, balance and safety awareness needed for a resident to be as independent as possible with ADL’s. OT will also work with residents who have difficulty with problem solving skills and other cognitive deficits that affect daily activity.

Speech and Swallowing Therapy
Speech Therapy at Ivy Woods Manor is provided by a full-time speech-language pathologist (SLP). The SLP has a Master’s degree from The University of Pittsburgh and holds current Ohio licensure as well as the Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA). Speech Therapy services include evaluation and treatment of speech, language, and cognitive disorders as well as swallowing. The SLP works with residents on verbal expression, understanding, functional reading and writing, as well as cognitive skills including attention, memory, problem solving, and orientation. The SLP will also work with residents to determine the safest consistency of diet and train residents and staff to use compensatory strategies to improve safety at meals.
